Strait Link is proud to support the communities in which we operate through a range of sponsorships, partnerships and community initiatives. We focus our support on activities that strengthen local communities, promote health and wellbeing, encourage participation, and make a positive difference where our people live and work.

Our major community partnerships include the Burnie10, one of Tasmania’s premier community running events, and the Burnie Surf Life Saving Club, alongside support for a range of local charities, community organisations and initiatives throughout the year.

The Burnie 10

The Burnie 10 is Australia’s premier 10km road race and one of Tasmania’s most iconic community events. In 2026, Strait Link proudly returns as Naming Rights Sponsor for the fifth consecutive year.

Now in its 41st year, the event will be held on Sunday, 25 October 2026, with participants taking to the streets of Burnie for a day that celebrates fitness, community and connection.

The Burnie 10 is an event for everyone. From elite athletes chasing personal bests to families, walkers and first-time runners, people of all ages and fitness levels are encouraged to get involved. Originally established by the Burnie City Council to promote tourism and economic development, the event has grown into a much-loved fixture on Tasmania’s sporting and community calendar.

While the elite race attracts national attention, the true spirit of the Burnie 10 lies in its ability to bring the community together.

Strait Link is proud to continue supporting this iconic event and the positive impact it delivers for Burnie, Tasmania and the wider community.

Burnie Surf Life Saving Club

The Burnie Surf Life Saving Club is Tasmania’s oldest surf life saving club, established in 1921.

The Club has a proud history of serving the Burnie community – not only through its core role of keeping local beaches and waterways safe, but also through its wide range of supporting programs and services, including beach patrols, search and rescue, surf sports, child and youth development, health and fitness programs, and community education.

Burnie SLSC is a professionally run, incorporated, voluntary community service organisation. It is also Tasmania’s most successful competition club in State and National Championships, with a current membership of approximately 300 (with members ranging in age from 5 to 85).

It is a vital community organisation and a key stakeholder in the Burnie City Council’s waterfront precinct.

The Burnie Dockers

The Burnie Dockers Women’s Team competes in the North West Football League Women’s competition and plays an important role in promoting participation, inclusion and opportunities for women and girls in Australian Rules Football across Tasmania’s North West.

The team continues to provide a pathway for female athletes of all ages and abilities to develop their skills, build confidence and be part of a strong and supportive sporting community.

In 2026, Strait Link proudly became a major sponsor of the Burnie Dockers Women’s Team, reinforcing our commitment to supporting local communities and creating opportunities for people to thrive both on and off the field.

We are proud to support the team and wish the players, coaches and volunteers every success throughout the season.
